Always soak reed before you use it. Round reed needs more time than flat. The larger the reed, the longer it should be soaked. But I less you are using the larger sizes, wet for a half minute for flat reed or 2 minutes for round. You can tell when it gets flexible. **Q: Can this be stained?** A: I have not had success staining it. **Q: Is the wicker treated with any chemicals?** A: It is not treated or anything.
