My first application of the year is at the beginning of June at the full 9 oz/1000 sqft application. Then I follow up monthly at the beginning of , July, August, and September at a 3 oz/1000 sqft rate. My grass stayed green throughout the summer months for the first time. If you have a longer dry season, you could just start earlier or add another 3 oz/1000 sqft for an additional month. Your soil condition has a lot to do with it too. I use liquid aeration on my lawn and the soil soaks in the water when it rains. I also cut my grass (turf type tall fescue) at 4 inches and mow twice a week.
