Biohome has all the nooks and crannies necessary to establish your bacteria colony and minute enough to enable a stabilized colony, that won't wash away easily. Biohome also acts as a mechanical filtering mechanism itself, and is quite amazing at this alone. Buy it, you won't regret it......we promise! Buy the best for your fish! TIME TESTED, BREEDER/SUPPLIER/KEEPER APPROVED, BIOHOME HAS SUCCESSFULLY BENEFITED THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ALL AROUND THE WORLD WITH THEIR BUSINESSES, BREEDING, EXPORTING/IMPORTING OR JUST KEEPING OF ORNAMENTAL FISH. 2-4 POUNDS IS RECOMMENDED PER 25 GALLONS DEPENDING ON TANK LOAD FOR INTENDED EFFECTIVENESS. 2 pounds per 25 gallons for very lightly stocked tanks and 4 pounds plus per 25 gallons of water for normal to heavily stocked tanks......(LOTS OF FISH!) We recommend about 2 pounds for small hang on the back filters, some small internal canister filters or smaller media pouches, 3-5 pounds for most larger hanging filters, regular internal filters, small-medium canister filters, small Magnum, Fluval, Ehiem, and 5-9 (10) pounds for larger canister filters and even more for filters like the pro series. As a note.....you can fit about 9 pounds of this media in an Ehiem 2217 if you want to go with maximum biological filtration. Biohome changes size slightly from production run to production run. All Biohome varies in size this way, BUT IT ALWAYS WORKS THE SAME!
