Perfect for indoor or outdoor settings with full sun exposure, this mature carnivorous plant is a striking, low-maintenance addition to any modern plant enthusiast’s collection. ## Description Red Dragon Venus Flytraps are all genetically identical. They are all the exact same clone. During the warmer half of the year they tan red to purple in strong light. But during the cooler half of the year they sometimes have more green on their leaves than red. You will receive a live healthy adult sized Red Dragon Venus Flytrap Plant. It comes with a 3 inch net pot, just like the one in the picture, moss appropriate for carnivorous plant soil loosely packed, and a full page detailed caresheet explaining how to take care of Venus Flytraps. All you will need is a bowl or saucer to hold the Venus Flytrap's pot that it comes with and a little bit of water, a gallon or so of reverse osmosis or distilled water, and a sunny window or a place in the yard to put your Venus Flytrap in. Humidity domes and year round warm weather is not necessary. Don't be fooled by other offers for Venus Flytraps that have them arrive in or with terrariums or humidity domes. These type of plants have strong light requirements and it is a myth that they need high humidity. The truth is that Venus Flytrap setups with terrariums or humidity domes almost always cause these types of plants to eventually die. They need to be grown in open air with containers that allow air to get into their soil and there should be little to block or diffuse their lighting. ## Features - Live healthy adult sized Red Dragon Venus Flytrap plant - Comes with a 3 inch net pot - Comes with a detailed full page caresheet with a diagram on the back of the caresheet - Shipped bareroot - Comes with enough Sphagnum moss loosely packed to fill your pot. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B005KYNXVY | | ASIN | B005KYNXVY | | Best Sellers Rank | #361,100 in Patio, Lawn & Garden ( See Top 100 in Patio, Lawn & Garden ) #22,137 in Plants, Seeds & Bulbs | | Brand Name | JoelsCarnivorousPlants | | Color | Red | | Customer Reviews | 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars (598) | | Expected Blooming Period | Year Round | | Expected Planting Period | year round | | Indoor Outdoor Usage | Indoor | | Item Weight | 3.2 ounces | | Item Weight | 3.2 ounces | | Manufacturer | JoelsCarnivorousPlants | | Manufacturer | JoelsCarnivorousPlants | | Moisture Needs | constant-watering | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Pieces | 1 | | Plant or Animal Product Type | Venus Flytrap | | Product Care Instructions | Water | | Sunlight Exposure | Full Sun | | USDA Hardiness Zone | 8 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Units | 1 Count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** JoelsCarnivorousPlants - **Color:** Red - **Expected Blooming Period:** Year Round - **Expected Planting Period:** year round - **Indoor/Outdoor Usage:** Indoor - **Item Weight:** 3.2 ounces - **Product Care Instructions:** Water - **Sunlight Exposure:** Full Sun - **USDA Hardiness Zone:** 8 - **Unit Count:** 1 Count ## Images ![Adult Sized Red Dragon Venus Flytrap (Fly Trap) Carnivorous Plant 3 inch Pot - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/5158T0W2BdL.jpg) ![Adult Sized Red Dragon Venus Flytrap (Fly Trap) Carnivorous Plant 3 inch Pot - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91rpI+eRRoL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Is planting it in the ground ok? i live in san diego. thanks. they look gorgeous.** A: No that will kill it. They need to be planted only in the moss they come with or peat that has no added fertilizers in it. The moss they come with is actually the best soil for them too. **Q: How long can I keep in packing before it starts to die?** A: It needs to be planted, set up according to the care sheet directions, and given strong lighting daily asap. It can survive if left in the box it came in for a while but will be set back and may go dormant from that as well. It might be a good idea to give it as an early Christmas present. If you cannot give it strong light you can use a red and blue plant LED grow light for the plant. Actual wattage in the teens or 20s should work well for 1 or a few pots of VFTs. There are many for sale on Ebay and Amazon. I recommend buying one with a shorter handling time to make sure it arrives in time for the plant before it is damaged from light deprivation. Be sure to follow the artificial lighting directions that come with your order for distance from the plants. The light should be on for 12-14 hours a day March through November and 8 hours a day during the daytime for December through February. **Q: I'm in ma. still cool here. any issues shipping in the winter?** A: It would be safer to order this weekend as you do have a cold spell coming up where you are at in a few days. **Q: Why not ship to Hawaii??** A: I do ship to HI and it usually works just fine too. I checked my shipping settings and you should be able to order from HI. Please let me know through Amazon messaging if this is not the case. ## Frequently Bought Together - Adult Sized Red Dragon Venus Flytrap (Fly Trap) Carnivorous Plant 3 inch Pot - Venus Flytrap Food, Solid Gel Carnivorous Plant Food, 2.5OZ.
