I bought a size 40 and it is 21" from armpit to armpit (x2=42" circumference chest). Roomy enough for 37" chest to wear with winter clothes underneath. After I washed it and put it in the dryer, it did not seem to shrink much at all; still 42" chest, and it shrunk maybe 0.5" in length. The pockets are not super small as another reviewer suggested, but maybe not big enough different tools: 7" deep; 6.5" wide. The front pockets start 17" from the top of the shoulder, or 8.5" down from the armpit. The side slit for pants pocket access starts about 1" below the front pocket and is about 5" long.
