The almost-ideal counterpart to the OPERATION STORMBREAKER DVD
I love well-done graphic novels, and while I'm a much more frequent browser of them than a buyer of them, I had to buy this when I bought the DVD ALEX RIDER: OPERATION STORMBREAKER. Even if this graphic novel had turned out to be average, I think it would've been worth the purchase. As it happens, I think it's top-notch (just as the cover thumbnail intimated to me), and it's the almost-ideal written counterpart to the DVD. The artistic style, while based on manga, still retains more than enough Western characteristics to suit a Western character and a Western literary genre, and the well-written text fills in some details that aren't found in the DVD.Alex Rider (in the graphic novels even more than in the movie and in the novels) resembles a literary alter ego of my own so uncannily that I sometimes think Anthony Horowitz must've been peeking at my notes. In truth, it's obvious that we've been drawing upon the same archetypes independently, only a generation apart (meaning I was doing it twenty years before he was, when I was Alex's age and even younger).

Great summer read for reluctant middle school boy
My rising sixth grade son could not put down Stormbreaker: The Graphic Novel (Alex Rider) and read it in one day. He felt so good about himself, having completed the book effortlessly that he went on to read a more challenging book, Freak, the Mighty, Freak The Mighty (Scholastic Signature) . He was even willing to work on the school required book report without protest.

Great fun!
I am not familiar with the original Alex Rider novels, but these graphic novel adaptations are very exciting and fun to read aloud. I would caution that they are definitely intense and more suitable for 12 and up. I read one with my younger kid and he found them too scary.

Great reading resource
I chose this for a student I work with, so we could work on his reading skills with some guidance. This is a student who does not like to read. The graphic novel version appealed to him and we were able to move forward. It is a quality resource.

Well done and easy to read
A lot of the graphic novels have poorly done illustrations and text that are hard to read, but this series is very well done with colorful artwork and clear text. All three of my kids have enjoyed the series (ages 10 to 14). They kept turning pages.

I really liked this graphic novel
I really liked this graphic novel. It came fast, It's about a 14 year old alex, who's uncle has been killed. now he has to find the killer. It's kind of like a teenage james bond story. He gets some really cool stuff from the people his uncle worked for. I don't want to spoil the story, read it. Michelle L.

Nice!
I've read the regular novels, and this graphic novel matches up with them pretty well. The only thing I wish was different is that it could be a little smaller, maybe the size of a regular manga.

Stormbreaker the Graphic Novel
This is an excellently produced, graphic novel version of the first Alex Rider book, which I purchased for my eight year old son. Although he is a good reader, he is often reluctant to try slightly longer books. This, then, is a great way to introduce those slightly reluctant readers to books which will capture their imagination and, hopefully, lead on to reading more for enjoyment. Reading, in whatever format, is what you are aiming for - so don't see these as a poor relation to 'real' novels. This is an excellently produced, exciting novel, with great illustations and the text is less daunting than a long book, but still captures the storyline and characters well. My son really enjoyed this and is asking for the next in the series so he can discover what happens to Alex on further adventures.

9 year old book-refuser loved it.
Bought for 9 year old grandson, whose Mum said he won't read. He loved it and read it very quickly, so I've bought him the next Alex Rider graphic novel by Horowitz and also a non-graphic Alex Rider novel, in the hope he'll be prepared to read more of that genre.

Quick read for Graphic novel fans
My 12 year old son read this really quickly. He said it was good, but not sure he'd bother reading the next in series.

Stormbreaker graphic novel
The children just love these graphic novels - all of them. Even the 17 year old sneaks off with them! They are just right for avid readers and reluctant readers alike - the 9 and 10 year olds seem the right age range.I highly recommend
