Two thumbs up for automagically turning things on and off via Z-Wave

*by T***S on Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2014*

Connected to SmartThings hub quickly. Turns the switch on and off and appears to accurately monitor energy usage. I have it working about 35 feet from the hub. No issues since pairing.I wish it was a little smaller. In certain positions, it may block an adjacent socket. I also wish it were about 20% less expensive. Those things don't change the fact that it works well and reliably. I'd love to see Aeon make a 6 or 8 socket power strip or surge protector with individual socket control. Perhaps a Smart UPS as well.

Did not work with Piper cam and was a pain to reset

*by C***S on Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2015*

Bought this as an addition to my Piper cam but it only worked once and then it just kept disconnecting.Piper was never able to fully connect to this device and customer support was no help.It might work for you but for me it was a pain, it was also a pain to reset to initial settings.I think that the piper cam was possibly at fault but I also read that the smart switch had an issue of not contacting Piper or other compatible devices.

Accuracy Issues, Good with HomeSeer PI, Keeps Internal Memory of Last On/Off State, Comparision with Older DSC06106 Model

*by J***D on Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2014*

I've been using this for a couple days now with HomeSeer on a Raspberry PI with a Z-Stick and I've had no problems with it whatsover. I've used the energy monitoring and switch functions. It also keeps its own memory of the last on/off state in case of a power outage, without even having a connection to a Z-Wave controller. (Some devices do not do this, so pay attention to that if you would like your appliances to come back on after a power outage). The questions I posted on Amazon regarding what the differences are between the newer DSC24-ZWUS and the older model DSC06106-ZWUS were deleted, so I will post what I found here here since I ended up purchasing several of each model. The DSC06106-ZWUS only reports watts and KWh used, and was registered with the FCC in 9/2010. The DSC24 reports voltage, watts, kWh, and amps, and was registered with the FCC on 8/2013. I'm assuming the DSC24 has the newer Z-Wave chipset as well(see Z-Wave Wiki). The DSC24 FCC Registration is: XBADSC24. The DSC06106 FCC Registration is: XBA20100207.I possess a couple of multimeters capable of measuring AC current when put in series with hot or neutral. I compared the readings on both the DSC24-ZWUS and the DSC06106-ZWUS under load after seeing that the newer DSC24-ZWUS consistently read about 500mw higher, and that it showed my 16W LED light bulbs consuming 17 watts, whereas the DSC06106 showed about 16.5 watts. It turns out that the DSC24-ZWUS was in fact reading high, whereas the older DSC06106 was more accurate. An issue with the DSC06106 was that it would not register power consumption when consumption was under about 500mw.I would be interested to see what everyone else finds as far as accuracy. Remember to check your AC voltage first, then multiple that times the amperes to get a comparison. (BTW the amperes also showed high on the DSC24-ZWUS.
