I don't recall what I used to extend it, could have been copper pipe. They are pipe threads. 1 ½” pipe is 1.9” in diameter. The ID of 1 ½” pipe depending on the schedule. As the 1.9” OD pipe has to screw into the threads, the threads are close to the OD of the pipe and are much larger than the 1 ½” call-out. NPSL as special pipe threads. S = Straight. L = Loose. NP = National Pipe. Most pipe threads are tapered, not straight.
