Review: Much Needed Upgrade. - My Tobias bass had been neglected for awhile, so I decided it was long past time to put new strings on it and do a proper / complete set-up and adjustment on it. It was worth the effort. I'd suggest before installing the Elixir's, you do a truss rod adjustment using the old stings to determine height - if needed. THEN put these on and do your set-up and adjustment to your axe. These are round-wound and have a nice feel to them. I'm used to flat-wound, but wanted something a little brighter and these fit the bill nicely. These fit my long-scale bass with minimal trimming. No dead strings in the package. The sound is solid and a lot of the new string stretch was gone in the first 72 hours. The 135 low B string IS beefy, but fit through the bridge without too much fuss. I DID have to file the nut a hair to get it to seat firmly, but nothing excessive. So far, I'm very pleased with these new strings.
