I love her books. I read them over and over and they have helped me tremendously in my life.I am so happy I picked up this book as I am currently single and struggle to surrender control and let a man pursue me. I like many women have so much negative criticism of myself. I have read through old text messages and have seen that when I was given a compliment, I immediately changed the topic or ignored it all together. Laura helped me understand why I do this and its for the reason she describes in her book. Sometimes I have irrational fears that the other person is lying or just saying that because they want to be a charmer. But I've seen how this kills intimacy because in reality when I ignore compliments, I'm saying to the person, "I don't trust you to be truthful to me."I've read all her books on dating and relationships and I believe this book is applicable to dating as well. I use the principles to help me receive when I man is pursuing me.I love that Laura feels we all deserve wonderful and special things. I have started telling myself this daily.This book helped me lower my defenses and practice receiving compliments. I overall have good self esteem so I was surprised at how challenging it was for me to receive compliments.The other day I complimented a mother on the name of her child which I felt was beautiful and unique. The mother looked at me and said, "Thank you! The other day someone was asking me why I the world I named her that". I really attribute my ability to open up and express a compliment to Laura helping me feel that by receiving compliments we create a community of strength for each other. I think if I felt uneasy receiving compliments I would have assumed the women would feel the same way and not open my mouth to say something.I'm about half way though this book but already it has helped me so much I wanted to write a review! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic book! What can actually lead one to happiness. Taking care of myself was an unheard of concept. Receiving graciously didn't exist for me. You could consider those things a must know but not everyone was thought that. I'm so much happier after reading this book. It has a very practical application of what a person (woman) can do to make herself feel good. Who would have thought that happiness does not depend on other people. If you want to be happy, it is up to you. No matter what everyone else says. Take care of yourself. Receive help, and by that you make other people happy. Very easy to listen or read.
