When you see "DECKING" there are also some differences. Skip the big box and visit a local LUMBER YARD to learn more. **Q: Can this be cut to make custom size adjustments? Also, can the inserted boards be used horizontally?** A: I did drill new holes on one end to make the gate 2 inches wider. You could cut it down to make it narrower. It only requires drilling two holes on the top and bottom rails. I did a horizontal gate. It is very difficult to do and takes two people to assemble. Getting the last end rail on is not fun...
