Main problem is that the ice spike extended a quarter inch when fully retracted, and would dent wood floors. It is not adjustable so I had to remove the rubber tip and make holes in two felt pad feet of the proper diameter and put them inside the rubber tip so that it would not seat all the way. The spike still protrudes nicely when extended.
