It started up and over time it has become imperceptibly quiet! I make sure that when we go out of town and shut our water supply to the house off the pump is switched off first. Used the original plumping and screwed the new pump into the older pump's plumbing, which hadn't visibly aged. I carefully removing the original "O" ring from the original plumbing and installing the new "O" ring provided with the new pump. No need to call a plumber! No soldering was needed. I was able to un-screws the old pump, clean the old manifold, and screw on the new pump with o-ring to the old manifold. The pump I received has a power light and a small turn switch/knob on it. I turned the knob all the way up. I have this pump plugged into a wifi smart outlet which is programmed to come on at specific times (TPLINK HS103) . So far all is well. I got a quote from Benjamin Franklin plumbing for $925.
