In fact I don't think Frontline states that their product is a pesticide, but it is. They are the same thing. Same active ingredients. The difference is that Frontline is more worried about profit than pet health. If your cats groom eachother, there is a chance they would lick it all off eachother. It is difficult to reach the spot you should apply this product. So, a single cat can't lick it all off themselves. I used to work for a vet. I have asked all the questions bc I love my cats. Always keep in mind that it you see a warning to rush hour child to the hospital if they swallow this, your cat is a smaller animal with smaller, more delicate organs that are less equipped for filtering out toxins. And yet, I carefully use such products if I see one flea, bc fleas not only suck blood from your animals, they also often have tapeworm eggs inside their bodies. Animals that swallow fleas during grooming will most likely end up with tapeworms bc those tiny tapeworm eggs the fleas carry will grow inside the cat once eaten. Then your cat has tapeworms. I hope you understand why worms eating your poor pet from inside is a deathly situation. So, I use Frontline or Revolution if I see a flea on even one pet. I don't do it for over 3 months if the fleas are gone. My cats do not go outside. **Q: Does it leave an oily residue?** A: It leaves a slight oily line where you put it but the product didn't work for me. Put it on 3 cats and all three still had fleas a few days later. **Q: Why did the price increase significantly on this product? I almost wrote an astounding review on it because it was useful and inexpensive.** A: And the dog version is still cheap even for extra large dogs. **Q: So I am wondering about the amount of medicine in each tub. When held up to the light , it only fills just under half of the 'cap'. Is this correct?** A: Just three doses. Works well…..should last a most three months. Just bought our second box. I saw Amazon Basics had a comparable product that was supposed to be the same product for a more reasonable price. The cat was having a severe allergic reaction to the fleas and was losing hair and had open sores on her back. She was pretty miserable. I ordered the product based on the apparent good rating and number of reviews without looking closely at the actual reviews. that was a mistake. I got the product and applied it as directed. I waited for 24 hours and kept an eye on the flea activity on her bare spot. After 24 hours, there was no effect on the fleas at all, and they just kept getting worse. I thought maybe it was just taking more time to start working. I kept monitoring the flea activity, and 48 hours, then 72 hours, then a full week passed with no change at all. I thought I had maybe not applied enough directly to her skin, or there was an issue with the dose I used, so I actually re-treated her early after about a week, and was very careful to get it all on her skin while applying it while she was sleeping. Another week passed and the fleas just got worse. We have two other cats in the household and they started having fleas show up on them, and all three cats are indoor cats that have had no flea issues in their lifetime (10 years+). I treated the other two cats with the same product, was very careful to get it all on their skin, and the results were the same after a week. The fleas just increased in number and there was not a single dead flea to be found when combing. I ended up having to get a different topical treatment and Capstar pills to treat the adult fleas. The Capstar worked like a charm and fleas were dropping off and dying after 30 minutes to an hour. I'm not sure if the company that makes this product for Amazon is having issues with quality control, dosing, or what, but I'll never try their brand flea products again.
