Feels like rubberized plastic. Rigid and appears to be tough. Not concerned about protection when my tablet is in it. Oh and one last thing.... Order the right one. This is for the Tab A 9.7 not the s2. The s2 is 0.5" smaller. People need to stop buying the wrong product and giving poor reviews because they can't read.There's no closure device. Feels like there is some magnet but can't tell for sure. If you hold onto it you'll be fine, but I seriously doubt it would stay closed if you dropped it.Keyboard: The keyboard is just awesome. No Bluetooth lag, keys are low and positive when you push them. Shortcut keys are preset and work everytime. Minimal noise and NO connectivity issues! Reconnects on start up, on wake up and re-docking. Never an issue.I wish you could get a keyboard of this quality with a leather portfolio type case.If you are concerned about the cost when compared to the other cases, you will know why this one is so much more as soon as you use it. First off, it hows the tablet very well without covering any portion of the tablet. Second, the keyboard size is perfect. It's big enough so it feels like you're typing on a full-size keyboard, but it's not so big that it overpowers the tablet and takes up unnecessary space. Third, because of the way the keyboard is designed it makes it very easy to type quickly and accurately. Finally, the keyboard has the Android shortcut keys, meaning that you can control music/movies, change volume settings, access email, etc. straight from the keyboard.This keyboard is a bargain and a perfect addition to the Galaxy Tab A 9.7. Though the keyboard cannot detach from the case, this has not been an issue. It's so lightweight and unnoticable that when you're not using it, you don't even realize it's there. It works as described, it now much better. I have had this product for the past several months using with zero complaints. It is welll well worth the price. The connection never drops and never has to be resynched, the keyboard itself is quiet and the keys are solidly built and easy to press and well spaced for typing. The dock holds the tablet firmly via magnet and allows the user the oppotunity to have the mini-laptop experience with this setup.
