I have a magma boat bbq. Want to know how much heat can it stand** A: Most of the 'Trio' settings are the same for all heaters and grills. The 'Trio' is what I call the Igniter, Thermocouple, and Pilot Light Flame tip unit that exists in every Heater and BBQ. I am going to give you my measurements for the tabletop patio heater I am restoring. In order of assembly from left to right: Igniter tip is 0.3" from Thermocouple tip on it's right side and 1/2" from Pilot Light Tip further to it's right. Thermocouple is 0.3" from Pilot Light Tip on its right side. The order of the assembly in my heater is Igniter, Thermocouple (monkey in the middle) and Pilot Light Tip. The pilot light should be closest to the burner. The thermocouple has to sense the pilot flame heat, before it releases gas to the main burner. This assures the gas only flows if the flame is lit and does not leak out without any burning. Putting this info out so others can benefit. Gas patio heaters are super easy to fix, but labor intensive. Rusted nuts are the main issue. Note that tabletop patio heaters need a 21" Igniter cord as it drops all the way into the base of the unit. By contrast, the tall columnar heaters have the gas assembly up on top so they need a shorter cord. Measure your cord - this is the main differentiator. The second thing is that these igniters come in two basic types: Piezo and Battery. Piezo works with a hammer hitting a crystal inside the red switch section. This produces a current that travels up thru the cord and delivers a spark on top near the pilot light tip. This is manual and will last over 10 yrs. The battery model requires an AA battery that needs replacing often. The advantage is that you don't have to press it down so hard and it clicks fast and lights quickly. Your choice on either one. Both carry a current, so wire is insulated and make sure there is no break in insulation and use rubber gloves. Unscrew top section and bottom section and replace.
