Red is positive black is negative and yellow is for changing the pattern. To change the pattern you apply 12 volts to the yellow wire for a moment the remove it. I used a push button switch to do that. **Q: What gauge wire is used?** A: 24-26 gauge stranded wire. Each of the 3 wires is small and delicate. The lights draw a maximum of 0.13 amps, so there is no need for the manufacturer to provide heavier-gauge wires **Q: Does this come with a control box?** A: No. Unless you want different patterns at different times, you just touch the yellow to 12v until they are all on the same pattern. Then wire all the yellow to a switch and you can change them all at the same time. **Q: What is the size of the hardware used? I am looking to buy a tap and die set for the holes i need to drill in my bumper** A: I drilled the bases out just a little bit and used 5/16 bolts and nuts on my bumper. I am going to use these as "accents" on my HMMWV. Figured they were cheap enough to do an experiment with. I am very satisfied with the brightness for the money. Lot's of talk about being waterproof and to seal them yourself. I have done that to 3 of them. This is a picture of a little test I did. Left one submerged in water for couple hours once the silicone dried. I did the lens and the incoming wire. Everything seems fine!
