Even works on my shiny metal desk - I've now bought two of these because they're fantastic for the price. The LEDs are a bit gimmicky but people seem to love that - and they can be turned off if you don't like them anyway. The mouse is just the right weight for me, not too heavy, but heavy enough that it feels solid in your hand. The texture of the top of the mouse is smooth but not shiny. It feels really nice. I pretty much can't operate without the forward and back browser buttons and this mouse comes with those. It also has buttons to adjust the DPI and control the LEDs as well as a middle button if you click the scroll wheel. This is very helpful if you use Linux as the middle button is often used for pasting selected text without needing to copy it first. I had a cheap Logitech before this, which cost more than this one and did less. I really like this mouse. It was the main reason for me returning it. **Q: anyone know why it has become inverted all of a sudden? Worked fine for 2 months then just ranfomly started that. Inverted settings are off for games.** A: 3 months old and X/Y inverted? Tested on anther computer ands it’s definitely the mouse. **Q: Is it possible to turn the lights off using the buttons on the mouse?** A: Yes - found it by accident! The 2 small buttons on the top below the wheel. The one closest to the wheel cycles through the different flashing colours, the bottom one cycles through the flashing and rainbow effects. A few quick clicks on the bottom one and you'll reach the lights off mode (well, apart from a very faint red which I assume is the light sensor on the bottom coming through). Adjust the sensitivity through your windows control panel - even on setting 1 (the lowest) it's still faster than my laptop trackpad, but I prefer it that way! **Q: Can this be used for normal work at a PC? Works straight out of the box, no software available. Unfortunately, I had to return mine because when I held the main body of the mouse (where your palm is) it a bit too tight to drag click, the mouse 'clicking' area, which was connected to the main body of the mouse, would sort of be pressed down until I stopped holding the mouse a bit too tight. Other than that, it would be fine for your average gamer.
