They tell you how the ASE is made, graded, and composed. More importantly, they tell you how this very book was set up so you can actually make use of the resources included. I didn't read them at first and thought it was just a bunch of tests to practice with, but after rereading the instructions, these books group the questions into the tasks that ASE uses and has quick rundowns of the task material. Then you take the practice tests in the book, with answers and explanations in the back. You are well prepared to pass. I’d focus on the alignment and correction questions.
