My guess is no beforehand materials testing.I may try to glue a piece of rubber gasket or tire tube material over the rip so to maintain the waterproofing and get some use out of them, but didn't really bargain for that."100% Leather" is 100% false, btw. The brown pair in picture w/2 red circles I wore til each shoe had a hole in them. So I ordered the gray pair. Same design, style name & same manufacturer. They where so loose they rubbed both of my feet to almost blisters in 2 days. Went & bought a pair of thick insoles hoping to decrease looseness of shoe. Just not enough. So then I ordered a pair of size 12 in hope of correct fit. The 12's where so tight I just immediately returned them.
