I just replaced my carpet about 6 weeks ago (thinking that my puppies were completely potty trained. I recently noticed the odor of urine in my living room. I started watching my pups very carefully and twice caught the smallest one peeing in the house twice in one day. My new carpet is a slightly dark tan color. Unbeknownst to me, it has magical properties when it comes to hiding damp spots and urine stains. With no visible cues to go on, I decided to try a light to find and treat the offending area.The light works exceedingly well at showing uncleaned urine on the carpet. It also very brightly shows where pee settled and dried on the flat (level with the floor) edges of my decorative baseboards. The wall and vertical surfaces of the same baseboards illuminated slightly if I got down on the floor and looked carefully. I have natural oak floors sealed with a clear polyurethane in some of my home. It does not show pet urine AT ALL on my hardwoods. It DOES illuminate areas I did not know existed where my old Bissell spot cleaner had leaked on my floors and apparently soaked into the finish. It also makes laundry detergent glow on the wood as brightly as it does pee on carpet. After using various types of carpet cleaners on urine the cleaned spot will glow again (but more faintly with each cleaning) once it had dried. This is actually useful for me since I have tried a few different cleaners that did not effectively remove odor and have to keep going back again and again trying different brands. I finally got a few spots to stop smelling over the weekend, and with the final treatment I tried most of the florescence disappeared.Update 7 months after review:Still using the Peedar a few times a month. till works as described above, seems to need much more frequent battery replacement for the past few months.I have only had this product for about a week but have used it extensively and would absolutely recommend it to anyone in need of a light to find urine on carpet. For other surfaces, it's not very useful for finding pet urine accidents. Except the bathroom, if shone on your white toilet. If you have males in your house I would not recommend you step foot in your bathroom with this. You may have nightmares.The light is well constructed and doesn't feel too light or cheap in your hand. The large power button on the butt of the light is very easy to use and is covered with textured rubber. It has an attached wrist strap if you feel you might need such a thing. I found that the photos posted by the seller are an accurate depiction of how well this works on lightly colored carpet. I would buy it again. I had already gone through with a CyberTech Flashlight and a long Blacklight. Both of these used a 395nm-400nm wavelength and at the time I thought it was awesome! I started Googleing about UV and then I learned that the lower the frequency, the better results I would get.So, I kept on reading, learning about enzymes eating the urine and eradicating it, bought a few different Urine out! Type of formulas, and then I ran across the PeeDar Website. The wealth of information on there is exceptional! I learned more things from the website than I had learned in the past 2 weeks.The PeeDarSo, this led me to ordering a PeeDar. I was intrigued by the fact it has a lower UV wavelength in the flashlight. the 365nm-375nm was a lower frequency than I had in the other 2 lights ( Cybertech flashlight, 18 inch Blacklight from Walmart ). I was so very impressed with the PeeDar light!More ResearchThis sent me on a journey, not only continuing what I have learned on pet stains, but adding in currency and UV security features, hotel and room inspections (scorpions and bodily fluids glow just as urine does - because when the fluids dry, they form crystals that has the protein in them that are fluorescence and reflective), and many other UV reactive items.After all the research, I have learned of over 50 things which are UV reactive that we use everyday and most do not know about it.ConclusionsI have even written articles on my tests and findings with florescence and the different wavelengths and why the PeeDar succeeds other UV Flashlights.
