The factory press-in inserts pulling out or spinning is not an uncommon occurrence and quite often needs replacing at one time or another. Easy enough to use on the road in an emergency situation. If your windshield starts shaking that’s a good sign something is loose. A screw is loose or the Brass Insert is striped or spinning in the fairing. In the 1996-2024 year models, there are several used internally for brackets and various other applications. These are NOT inserts used for woodworking. It’s advertised for the batwing faring and I’m not familiar with the design used on the Road Glide. This item removes the damaged brass fitting that the windshield screws into and replaced it with a new one. Worked great on my ElectraGlide. **Q: Does this come with the inserts or just the tool?** A: Comes with the inserts and tool. Works great. I would suggest tapping the batwing before inserting the inserts, they will go in much easier. **Q: Will this work for a 2017?** A: No! Installed in seconds. The middle top screw in the 2015 is longer than the left side and right side screws, with a metal, hollow insert the screw goes in, so I didn’t know if these brass inserts would fit the middle insert hole, but they fit perfectly. This was a great product that worked as advertised. Harley has no part number/part for anything that will replace the factory insert fastener. Without this product I would have needed a new vent assembly for $92.00.
