Review: This is the brand others copy. Very happy customer for 40 years. - I have to but one of these every decade or so. They occasionally wander off to environs unknown; likely someone else's shop. General tool is the standard others copy bought my first General Tools automatic center punch off the rack at Sears over forty years ago. I have never broken one, they just evaporate. I have three models currently this one is the best, the version with out the replaceable tip works is good, and the narrower pencil version is lighter to carry for occasional use.

**Q: Has anyone tried breaking a 1/4" glass plate with this? Did it work?**
A: If you wish to break plate use a hammer, this will work on tempered glass if any thickness

**Q: Anyone use one of these to extract broken bolts? Is it strong enough to get a punch for a bit? Looking to remove a bolt inside my engine block.**
A: I dont think john p actually ever tried this. Dont know about the cheaper utility version but the big #78 which Ive had for 15 years will put a divot in anything short of a broken drill bit. Ive removed broken taps with it a few times by softening the metal around the tap then repeatedly punching the tap in reverse. This tool has amazing power. That said, mine misfires about every half dozen clicks but doesnt bother me considering how well it works.

**Q: Do i need any machine to use this or take off the bike bolts**
A: I dont understand the question,this is a center punch,not a take off tool.I used mine once,and the tip broke off.It was a piece of junk,so I don't know.If the bike bolts are rusted,or welded,on it seems like to me you are going to have to cut em off.

**Q: Would this work well to get a starter dimple for unibit/step bit when going thru metal studs or panel boxes?**
A: It might. It works better if you drill a starter hole with a twist drill first. Usually the step-bit and unibit drills don't have enough of a point to start in the dimple that the center punch makes.
