The motor is very, very quiet, and would not be noticed if it was next to our bed. The program options are very simple to understand and to use. The only criticism I could make is that the watch pillows are not as "foamy" as expected, but they work perfectly, and do not warrant downgrading the winder even a fraction of a point. Or how long does each turn take ?** A: Base on my calculation, I timed it myself and each rotates takes roughly about 8 second on my unit. No way it is 5 second. that's pretty fast. Mode 1,2,3 are pretty much the same, rotate 2 minutes and rest for 6 minutes. let say 8 seconds per turn, 2 minutes (160 seconds) will be 15 turns and it rest for 6 minutes. Which means 15 turns in 8 minutes. One hour (60 minutes) will be 112.5 turns. So, in a day it will be 24 hours X 112.5 which is roughly 2700 turns. Mode 4 is rotate for 3 hours and then rest for 9 hours. 3 hours (60 mins x 3) = 180 minutes. My unit is 7.5 turns per minute. That's insane 1350 turns in 3 hours. Way too much. I wish they could have done some research before setting these timers. What I end up doing was using a timer myself and set it to a maximum of 8 hour per day. Using Mode 3. CW and CCW. Turn for 2 minutes and Rest for 6. If my math is correct, 8 hours will give me about 900 turns. Will see how it goes. Hope this help.. **Q: Is it durable? I don't want to spend $100 on a winder which only lasts 1 year. Is it possible to get a replacement motor?** A: I had mine for 3.5 year before it stopped working. It definitely outlasted the warranty but I’d be lying if I said I’m not disappointed it died ‘so soon’. It seems like any motor designed to work automatically on a regular cadence should be cycle tested to last a lot longer than this did. I expect my opinion to be unchanged. ### ⭐ So far so Good *by C***8 on July 5, 2016* **UPDATE #2** Was contacted by shipper and the offered to send me a new motor at no cost. I did just get around to installing the new motor. This was a big pain as there were no instructions on how to open the case. Luckily I did find a video online fo another using doing a motor swap on the quad version of this. Anyway, New motor finally went in and I plugged it all back in. The new motor is at least as loud as the old motor. This is not good. The biggest reason this was purchased over other options was that it was supposed to be quiet, and it was for the first 2 or 3 months. Now you can hear it in the next room, even with the new motor in it. Very disappointed. **UPDATE#1** After about 4 months I noticed the unit was getting louder. At first it wasn't bad. If the AC was on you couldn't hear it. In the last 2 months that though it has continued to get worse. It is so loud during Operation that it doesn't matter if my AC is on or not. It still winds the watches, however as the sounder gets louder and nastier, I worry that function will soon become worse u til it stops winding completely. My wife bought this for me for Father's Day. I've had this plugged in for only 4 days. What I can say is that the picture online is spot on. Unit I received is just as Red / Glossy / Grainy. It is a nice looking unit. has a premium type feel. I can't say enough how quiet the motor is. With our AC and Fan off, I can stand next to this and I still won't hear it spinning. I only have it plugged in. I have not tested or used it on Battery. i have no real need or desire to do so either, so I cannot really comment on if that is good or not. sorry. For me, so far, all signs point to this being a very nice, high quality Watch Winder. Really only time will tell if it's performance is maintained or if it starts falling apart after a few months.
