Still use Tide, but about half of what I used to, in very hard, limescale water. Add a cup of baking soda. That's it. No more pre-treating stains, adding ammonia or bleach, adding Clorox 2, etc. I strictly use cold water only, and still let everything soak 30-45 mins, and I give them 3 rinses. But with Tide @ $18 per gallon (not to mention bleach & ammonia), I am saving some pretty decent spondulix, and the stuff gets clean. Believe me, I would tell you if it didn't, and don't think twice about that. DRYER BALL: I put 5 or 6 of the sticks in there, and tumble everything on low; then about 10 mins. before taking out, while still slightly damp, I toss in a couple of Starwest Botanicals Lavender Dryer Bags- they smell DIVINE! The Dryer Balls really seem to work on the static (and the lavender bags just add a nice whiff); what I love is there's no more of that, you know, kinda slimy, greasy, cheesy, oil-spotted stuff you get from using Downy or dryer sheets. In other words, not sure I would trust this system 100% on its own (if you have, let me know), but for clean freaks like me it's let me save $ on Tide, and no more softeners, and hey! you can actually use your T-shirt to clean your eyeglasses again! Bonus! CAVEAT: First batch I got had a bad lid on one of the balls; it never quite fit & kept coming off in the wash. When I contacted merchant for a replacement, they sent me a whole new laundry system. Now THAT'S customer service. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Cracked cap but still using *by M***L on May 11, 2021* As far as helping reduce my laundry detergent use and getting my clothes cleaner and softer these work pretty well but, with less than 10 washes the cap on one has already broken. Without the cap these are useless so, I’m hoping it doesn’t get worse.
