Bad Religion have threatened to record an album of seasonal classics for years, and now they've gone and done it, tackling eight chestnuts in their classic punk rock style. Review: A must-own for Bad Religion fans! - Although I am biased as this is my favorite band, this is a great album! I love Christmas, so hearing my favorite band sing some of the most classic Christmas songs of all time was a fun addition to my holiday season. It seems ironic and to some it may sound almost contradictory, but somehow they managed to make these classic Christmas songs their own while not altering the sense of the warm, Christmas spirit they convey. The irony there is obviously having an atheist front man singing some of the most beloved Christmas songs that happen to be the most Christian ones (i.e., he's not singing jingle-bells and rudolph the red-nosed reindeer :P). It seems their aim was to select the most popular or classic songs, which I think was the right direction for this album. If anything, it just adds to its charm. The only criticism that I and some friends of mine had is actually not a criticism at all--just like a great movie coming to an end leaves you wanting more, this album's songs are very short and might make you sad it went by so fast the first listen! Because they were so short, I found myself listening over and over again, which did make that initial freshness wear off sooner than it would with a normal-length album with more songs. But with that being the worst I have to say about this album, myself and everyone else I talked to about this album to have no REAL complaints, only praise! We, also, find that many Christmas radio stations where we live won't pay hymns. I'm not trying to get churchy here but there are so many Christmas songs out there and adding the hymns would eliminate so much repetition. This has their popular song American Jesus too.
