It does not take up the amount of room a box-like knife set requires--plus one can see the blades so there is no guessing as to which knife is which. This is the perfect answer if you are hesitant to mount a magnet strip to the wall. The knives are sharp and cut clean. Not being able to put them in a dishwasher is not a problem at all -- since really one shouldn't do that to begin with, the blades on any knife will become dull faster that way. I am not sure whether it's been caused by the use of the dishwasher, but there were no instructions prohibiting the knives to be dishwashed. I also noticed that the price went up from $41.99 to $49.99. Just an observation.
