Review: Great, long-grained basmati in a not so great package - This rice has an exceptionally long and somewhat thin grain, probably twice the length of traditional white rice. The flavor is what you'd expect from a good basmati with the characteristic popcorn aroma as it cooks. It cooks up perfectly in my rice cooker and retains firm, individual grains. There is a very subtle golden tint to it, more noticeable prior to cooking. I'm completely satisfied with the flavor, appearance and texture. The only thing I'm not that happy with is that the bag does not feature a zip lock or other means of resealing. In the past I've purchased my basmati in the 20 lb. burlap bags with the zipper tops which are handy for storage. I'd recommend this be stored in canisters since the packaging material is sort of slick and stiff which makes it hard to reseal even when using clips or ties. The rice itself is excellent.
