## Overview

Bob Smith Industries BSI-157H Maxi Cure/Insta-Set Combo Pack is a high-viscosity, clear adhesive system designed for rapid curing and superior bonding strength (6400 psi). Ideal for plastics, metals, wood, ceramics, and more, it includes a thick CA glue and a strawberry-scented accelerator that cures joints in 10 seconds. Perfect for professional-grade repairs, crafts, and model assembly, this USA-made combo offers a smooth, sandable finish and waterproof durability.

## Description

Maxi-Cure extra thick CA is the best CA for most plastics, including GE’s Lexan MAXI-CURE is the best choice for plastic model assembly. When used with INSTA-SET, it works better than any putty for modifying or filling voids. It can be carved with a knife or razor blade and sanded and feathered to form a finish indistinguishable from plastic. MAXI-CURE bonds fiberglass, hardwood, metal and rubber better than any other hobby adhesive. For gluing to the inside, cloth textured surface of fiberglass, scrape the area to be bonded with a razor blade or coarse sandpaper before using MAXI-CURE or any other adhesive. It also is best for bonding the tires for R/C cars. INSTA-SET is a catalyst which acts as an accelerator that allows CAs to quickly cure in thick layers by enhancing the alkaline conditions during polymerization. INSTA-SET in a spray bottle is normally used to cure the CA that flows from joints when parts are pressed together. Applying an additional bead of thick CA along a seam and then curing it with INSTA-SET significantly enhances a joint’s strength. For difficult to bond materials, INSTA-SET can be applied to one surface and CA to the opposite surface. When brought together, they will bond instantly. INSTA-SET is formulated with a strawberry scent and activates CA in 6 to 8 seconds without any degrading of the CAs strength, which can occur with many other accelerators. Maxi-Cure is very popular in the archery industry for fletching, which is the bonding of feathers and vanes to the ends of the aluminum and carbon fiber arrow shafts. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will it bond metal to gemstones?**
A: Not if you're talking about Infinity Gems and Gauntlet.  No CA adhesive is necessary as the gems will attach themselves on a quantum level to to gauntlet.  Take care, however, as once placed no amount of solvent will detach gems, so I recommend using worthless gems like diamonds for a 'fit 'n finish' test.

**Q: Does this bond silicone (platinum cure or rtv or both)?**
A: No it will not.

**Q: does the accelartor leave marks on the wood? Using it for picture frames.**
A: No, the accelerator did not leave marks on the wood when I used it on hardwood stairway handrails to do a return.

**Q: Anyone use this to fill a gouge in a bowling ball?**
A: Bowling balls are usually urethane or polyester resin based.  You are probably better off using epoxy for such a repair.  JB Weld should work.  If the gouge was huge and the bowling ball expensive, you could spring for a polyester resin based product such as what you would use for fiberglass work.   Only problem is it would be a bit thin.
