## Overview

The EVanlak HDMI Dummy Plug is a premium aluminum headless ghost display emulator that creates a virtual 4K (3840x2160@60Hz) monitor output. Designed for professionals managing remote PCs, mining rigs, or compact setups, it tricks GPUs into maintaining full functionality without a physical display. Compatible with multiple platforms and remote access tools, it enables seamless high-resolution streaming, gaming, and productivity without the hassle of extra hardware or software.

## Description

Create a virtual second screen that doesn't really exist. Use a dummy indicator so that the second (virtual) screen can be transferred to a Chromecast device. Works on remote computers without local monitor in your mining rig will prevent this. I'm not sure how much HBCC plays a role in other cards. The OSX utility display menu makes it easy to change the resolution. Tricks VNC display in full resolution. Easier than software solutions and a stable HDMI monitor connection is a great way to run a computer headless and get videos at 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz via a VNC. No need to download software or configure the Unraid server. Simply connect the resolution and connect. Works great intended. Gives the desktop a screen so it can access it remotely without constantly plugging in and on a monitor

Review: Used as a simple solution to Steam Remote play streaming at 4k - I used this solve an issue with Steam Remote Play. I wanted the beefy machine in the livingroom to stream 4k to a laptop connected to a 4k TV in the home office. The only way I could do that was turn on the projector in the living room, which defeated the purpose of remote play to begin with for me. Here's my setup so you can understand the problem. I have beefy system in the living room connected to a 1080p projector w/ surround sound, projecting to 120" screen. I usually use Nvidia's DSR to render to 4k, but output it to 1080p, naturally resulting is a more detailed (but naturally not as good as a native 4k display would be) 1080p experience, that looks really good at 120". In the home office, is my lenovo 2-in-1 i use for school and basically everything on the go. It's connected to a 4k HDR TV. If the projector in the living room is off, then Steam Remote Play will only stream a 1080p signal to the laptop in the office connected to the 4k display. In fact, it's almost like DSR is disabled once the projector is turned off because I can't even select any resolution above 1080p. If I turn the projector in the living room on, it's like DSR works again and I can pick resolutions higher than 1080p, including 4k, and stream at 4k to the laptop in the office. I don't want to burn up lamp hours on my projector just so I can play a game in the home office at 4k. I've researched a solution to this on and off for over a year and came up with everything from modifying EDID, to other stranger methods. It's seems like it would be such a simple fix, but alas, it is frustratingly not. Until now. I found out about devices like these. Put it into a spare HDMI port and walah. As acts as an active display. This worked great. I mirrored my monitor to this fake display and now even with the projector off, I have the option to stream 4k to my laptop in the home office. Wish I had discovered this a year ago.
Review: Does what it says, perfect for using on Steam Deck for Dual Screen games - Bought this to use with my Steam Deck for dual screen games (Plug this into USB-C hub with HDMI port, stream the dummy screen to another monitor/device via Moonlight). Works great! No issues at all and can go as high resolution as advertised.

## Features

- create a virtual second screen which does not actually exist. use dummy display so that can "cast" the second (virtual) screen to a chromecast device Works on remote computers without local monitor3840x2160@60H
- HDMI emulator plugstricks the GPU into thinking there is a monitor attached to allowing HBCC to stay active Sometime HBCC will disable if SSH into your mining rig will prevent that from happening. Not sure how much HBCC has a factor on other cards OSX utility Display Menu makes changing resolutions easy
- HDMI plug would be useful for situations where you don't have another HDMI cord to connect to the card and want to use that GPU for something like cryptocurrency mining or BOINC work unit crunching
- Ghost Adapters works MD graphics card "detected" that a monitor was plugged in. real test was connecting with TeamViewer and AnyDesk,Great for headless RaspberryPi. Tricks VNC display so full resolution. Easier than software solutions and stable
- hdmi monitor connection is a great way to run a computer headless and get 3840x2160@60Hz video via a VNC service， no need to download any software or configure the unraid server just plug in adjust resolution and connect .Works great as intended. Gives desktop a screen so it can remote into it without having a monitor constantly attached and on

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this work if I plug this into the motherboard and use the cpu integrated graphics?**
A: It will work on either integrated or external graphics card. I have used it in both scenarios. As long as you have an HDMI port it will work.

**Q: Will this work on an Apple computer?**
A: Yes it should do, it works on any piece of equipment with an HDMI connector

**Q: Will this plug work to bypass the 3060 mining limiter? I know 4k ones will.**
A: It works great. I have it running in one of my 3060s right now. I have a dell aurora R11 that I bought to pull the 3090 out of (don't buy 3090s, btw-2 3070s much better). I've got a 3060 in it and have the hdmi plug in it. Running nicehash quick miner on it, and no actual display at all. It works great.
One thing to note, however, if you are planning on slotting that card into a second PCIE 16x slot in addition to your current video card, that has to be a full 16 lanes-it can't be one of the ones that just have a 16x form factor and only 8 or 4 lanes. A lot of motherboards are like that in that they only have one true PCIE 16x slot, and the other is cut down. So to have the beta driver work, that card HAS to be in an actual 16X slot, and then the dummy plug works perfectly.
Also note that, if your MB DOES have two full PCIE 16x slots, you can actually run two 3060s with dummy plugs.

**Q: Will it work to emulate a wide screen monitor with a resolution 3440x1440?**
A: No it is only used to fool a PC into thinking a monitor is connected. I don't think it is that sophisticated!
