A fine, slightly translucent white that grips and prints VERY well (Black below white review)

I stumbled across this while on 3DSolutech's Amazon store and jumped at the chance for a shot at their "premium" PLA for $13. It hung out in my bin until today and ran it through some of my calibration prints and I have to say, I really like the way it prints. It's got a PETG look and feel with PLA ease of printing.NOTE: I bumped up the temps for this 5-10 over their normal PLA with great results.I'm becoming a big fan of 3DSolutech's filaments. My favorite is their denim - so much so I'm re-printing my printer upgrades in it. I just got a roll of their regular Black PLA and I have great expectations from it as well.Minor update White: these prints are tougher than normal PLA, flexing but not breaking and seems a little lighter than PLA. I may print some wheels for my HPI WR8 out of this.REVIEW - BLACK:(Amz won't let me write separate reviews...)Wound beautifully. The black is as good as the white, just as I expected. I'm reluctant to admit I got a roll of the Sunlu Gray PPLA that everyone raves about but I just can't get reliable first layers like I do with 3D Solutech. I feel like a zealot, but these filaments ALWAYS work for me. Never had a clog, no burnt discolorations, wide temp performance and the only complaint was a VERY mild color shift on the baby blue (seems somewhat common) but it's always completed a print for me.When I was printing on the factory glass, I was printing at 210/60 with mirror smooth results on the face. I just got an EZMat and I'm printing at 210/35 and it's working just as well.

Nicely wound, prints well on my Prusa Mk3

*by B***S on Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2019*

I've been meaning to try this brand of filament for a while and finally picked some up when my supply of black started running low.First impressions were good, it was neatly wound on the spool and is a glossy black PLA. Came in a nice box, with a dessicant pack. No resealable pouch though to help keep it dry.Colour is a good "cold" black; that is that it tends to not have as much yellow as other black PLAs I've tried; very thin layers have a neutral transparency as opposed to a yellow or brown tinge.I made a new filament profile for it and pictures of my usual calibration prints are attached so you can see them.I measured the diameter in various places and it cam in between 1.73 and 1.75 , most commom being 1.74. It seems to extrude perfectly with this value and an extrusion multiplier of 1.The temperature tower was interesting though; the card included says the recommended temperature is 200-220C, but it printed well from 235C all the way down to 185C, which is as low as my tower goes. It stayed glossy throughout; I've had some brands of PLA that turn matte as you get near their lower print limits.Naturally, overhangs suffered a bit at the higher temperatures but I settled on 195 for my profile and that is what the cali-cat was printed at. Bridging seems fantastic across the range with no drooping; there is a bit of stringing at higher temperatures but it's more or less gone at 205C and below.Note these temperatures are of course specific to your printer/hotend so may not work for you.Bottom line: I'm happy with my purchase; I'll definitely be getting more of this brand in the future.

Bad adhesion, even worse spool jams

*by K***O on Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2019*

I've used several colors of PLA filament from 3D Solutech before, so when I saw other people complaining about issues with this specific model, where their extruder couldn't pull the filament due to issues with the winding of the spool, I thought they were just amateurs. "Filament is just a long strand of plastic wound up, how could it do something like jam?"Boy was I wrong - the issue is actually real, and is being caused due to the lack of tight winding during the spooling process. Basically, there's an "air gap" being created (like when you wind the roll backwards) in the filament loop during the winding process, which allows a part of the "current loop" to get tucked underneath a "previous loop" - when your extruder pulls on this "tucked in loop", the filament tightens up underneath the "previous loop" I mentioned, and makes it impossible to get more filament to feed. You need to unwind the spool a bit to free the loop, but by that time, you have a ruined print. To top it off, when you do get it going, adhesion to the bed is almost always problematic on the first layer. As I said in the beginning, I've used filament from 3D Solutech many times before and never had this problem. This is supposed to be their "premium" filament, so I'm very surprised and disappointed.
