Its marvelous, it records your steps, speed of walking, distance and calories lost. He clips it to his belt or tee-shirt. The after sales help you get from this company is unbelievable in this day and age. They are so proud of this product and rightly so, its not expensive like some of the latest gadgets on the market but it works perfectly and if you need any advice then the company are only to willing to help. It also has a large clip on the back so you can clip it anywhere while running or walking. It is really accurate because it also shows the speed. So.. its reliable. It does count them but won't register them till you walk more than 15. I kept checking throughout the day but the steps were not counting.When I counted the steps between the two machines it was only 10.
