I use it to control a Shurflo solar pump which is pumping potable water. . **Q: will this work on another brand of 24v pump?** A: Of course it will work with other 24V pumps. Note that it provides a max of 5 Amps so if somehow your pump draws more than 5 Amps then there is a possibility of burning out something. But the pump in this set up will draw only 4.5 Amps when using 24V and lifting water 230ft. If your lift is less then the pump won't need the extra Amps. **Q: does this replace the charge controller for the solar panel** A: A "charge controller" is used to moderate the charge delivered to batteries in a solar setup. You would not use an LCB in such a situation because the LCB is deployed without any batteries. So, no it doesn't replace the charge controller, but since there are no batteries you don't use a charge controller in this kind of solar setup. NOTE: this LCB provides 24Volts. The solar panels I have put out 18 Volts. (And after looking at panels at the local store this appears to be the case for all solar panels. So you have to wire your panels in series which (on a very sunny day) will give the LCB 36V in so it can provide an adequate 24V out.
