Review: Expensive, but worth it. - As far as car sponges go, this is seriously the most expensive I’ve bought. After buying a new(ish) car I thought I would treat it to better cleaning tackle, so along with a bucket with grit trap, a decent couple of large microfibres cloths, and a bottle of Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine I’ve got through winter keeping my car looking pristine with minimal effort. With a couple of capfuls of Wash and Shine per bucket, all I do is wipe the wet sponge along the paintwork (no pre rinsing required unless your car is caked up with mud). It picks up dirt in a way that other sponges that I’ve used previously do not. So you’re effectively wiping your car clean, then drying with the microfibre cloth. What was a 30 minute job is not a much easier 10 minute job - in winter, that’s a win for me. Cleaning the car is no longer a long slog. After 6 months use, the sponge looks pretty much like when I bought it - others I’ve used have always looked pretty tatty after a couple of months. Tip - you need to be sharpish if your car has been in the sun, it’s best to wash and dry panel by panel to stop remaining water drying on the car. Tip 2 Before you buy, watch the YouTube videos for these two products - they do work.

Changing cars recently after a 9 year ownership using a bucket, hosepipe and chamois leather made me question whether there was a better way. Checking out You Tube channels suggested there was! Optimum no-rinse solution in a large bucket with grit guard plus a big red sponge together with a quantity of drying towels is now my preferred approach and gives very satisfying finish. The sponge may seem expensive at first but a professional detailer I know says that he only changes sponges once a year (based on constant daily use).

**Q: Is this sponge better for a Rinseless wash or microfiber eash mitts?**
A: I have used this sponge between 2 bucket washes and it has been great. I prefer it to using 8-10 mitts. I would only recommend use if the car is very slightly dirty or dusty. Must be used with ONR or similar. I have found best to spray some ONR on the car first leave for a couple of minutes and wash with sponge in one direction only and rinsing after each panel. When used correctly the sponge has shown no problems with scratching. You may know all this but it is the technique that is as important as the sponge.

Love this sponge, never thought id love a sponge but there you go I wash my car with ONR, Tired the Multiple microfiber method but got fed up with the washing. So tried the optimum recommended sponge and never looked back love it.
