It is 12x12 inches and had a depth (feeding area) of 1ΒΌ inches. All of the hardware is rust proof and this feeder is extremely well made. The bottom, holding up the tray, has two wooden braces running from side to side to prevent sagging.The actual feeding tray is coated metal of the rust proof type and slides out easily in order to clean in...a very important aspect of keeping bird feeders. I have a feeling it would cost a lot more in the stores. The birds eat out of it and some of the bigger birds will simply sit in and eat, while the smaller birds wait their turn. After one year, a system has been formed. The smaller birds eat out of the tray hanging from the tree while the larger birds (doves) walk the ground underneath, picking up all the seed that falls to the ground. Easy to clean and use and stands on the sturdy legs without issue (though mine is hanging from a tree). The only issue I have had is keeping the wood in proper condition here in the desert heat/sun. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Needs to be more structurally sound *by K***6 on Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2016* I really like this bird feeder because the birds can pick through what they want and I can add whatever I want each morning. What I don't like is that the holes in the tray are too big and the small bird feed falls right through on the ground making a mess. Mine actually needs a tray that's about 1/16' wider. It's just a tiny bit too small and if I don't position it just right with a balance between left and right side then one side falls down enough for all the feed to fall out. I agree with other reviews that the holes should line up evenly for the legs. Mine could not sit up level so I ended up switching it to a hanging feeder instead. It's fine now. Just have to keep an eye on the tray so a friendly squirrel that gets in there doesn't fall through!
