Review: Mixed Bag - In a nutshell I love the 4K restorations, probably the best these classic movies have ever looked. I give the restorations themselves an A+, hence the five stars. But read on. On the other hand, the packaging is about the worst I've ever encountered and yes I've literally bought thousands of Blu-rays. Although good looking (that's not the problem), the packaging suffers in the most basic function which actually is protecting the discs. It is so hard to get the discs out of the packaging that you can't help but get fingerprints all over the disc meaning they often won't play without cleaning them. I give the packaging an F for that reason. Whoever the package designer was and the quality control person, they failed their jobs miserably. So beware this horrible fault. Review: Vertigo in 4k: Wow. - Rear Window looks better than ever. But the real star of this box set for me is Vertigo. The 4k transfer of Vertigo is well worth the upgrade from 1080p. Incredible sharpness and detail (thanks to the VistaVision process) and wonderful rich colors. Just a gorgeous film, in addition to its merit as one of the greatest films ever made. For me personally, The Birds and Psycho (which I have not watched in 4K yet) are nice to have but not essential.
