Obviously these moccasins (or any soft soled moc) would not be the ticket for wet or damp conditions; suede soaks up water like a sponge. But for dry conditions? Yes, you can certainly wear soft-soled mocs outside. I speak from experience in having worn many of Minnetonkas soft-soled moccasins outdoors on a daily basis. The suede leather holds up quite well to the rigors of hard pavement. In reality, for most people, you're probably not going to be spending the majority of your time hiking the concrete canyons in these; you'll no doubt spend more time padding about the smooth and oft-times carpeted floors of various retail establishments. Realize with minimalist footwear, like these moccasins, you'll have greater tactile feel underfoot and less protection from things like sharp stones; some like that, others not. Also, if you have foot issues requiring supportive insoles then these are not going to work for you; they have zero support in them. That being said, I've worn mocs like these for light day hikes on dirt paths; a very cool experience feeling the ground as you walk not experienced when wearing more robust shoes or boots. Living in Canada, it was next to impossible to track a pair down and online prices were ridiculous. These popped into my head a few weeks ago and was glad to see they were available and much cheaper. A common topic brought up here is the sizing. I'm a 10.5 across the board. 10's hurt my feet and 11's flop all over the place. I read online that the trick with these moccasins is to go a size UP if they are lined (these aren't) or go a size DOWN if they are not lined (these are not lined). I originally bought 11's but had to return them as they were slipping off. The 10's came and they were perfect. All I had to do was wear them around the house for 2 days and they stretched out and now fit like a glove. These seem very small out of the box, but just give it a few days. It takes just a bit of patience to get these on and off and it is worth the effort. They are narrower than my usual shoes, but fit just fine. Broke them in quick and I don’t regret them. It feels like a second skin. They are tight at first but leather stretches the more you use it. I added some rabbit fur to make them warm this season, and for some extra style. The quality is great. My only pet peeve is that I have to become a contortionist to tie them up.
