It was time for some variety, so I ordered Bob's Red Mill whole wheat flour and a different brand of unbleached bread flour to start from scratch. The 2-lb. loaf in the picture is from the honey grain bread recipe in the Oster instructions. The recipe uses about 2/3 unbleached flour and 1/3 whole-wheat flour plus a smaller amount of quick cook oats. I worried that the whole wheat would create a small, dense loaf, but the picture shows the loaf rose nice and tall. The flavor is wheaty but still tastes light, and the crumb texture is better than the mixes I've tried. With two generous-sized bags of Bob's wheat flour in my refrigerator, I will no longer hesitate to bake my own whole-wheat bread. You will love the results you get with this excellent product.
