We've owned Japanese brand rice cookers like those from Zoujirushi before and owned one for over 8 years with no problems. We got this before the big discount and it wasn't worth it. It made OK rice for a few months, but it fails to keep it fresh overnight - the rice will dry out due to a poor seal. Once the teflon started to flake off, cleaning it became a chore. Only buy this if you make rice twice a month. Otherwise you'll be shopping for a replacement in a year or two - like we did.
