I am glad I listened to the good reviews. I really like the look of it and I do not find the lights to be too bright. The globe does float and spin if you give it a nudge but it does not spin on its own. I can be challenging to get it to float by placing it yourself but it is a piece of cake if you use the the tool they give you. I would definitely recommend this if you want something different than the standard globe on a base.

I have no trouble getting the globe to float. The light works well. However, I've had the globe for about 5 months, and I'm noticing a squeaking when the globe is floating. In a quiet room like my home office, it's kind of annoying. I think the upper magnet in the top of the frame must be working loose, or something. Either way, still works great, just a little squeaky now.
