Review: Takes a little practice! - I roast my own beans, use a R58 espresso machine, Technivorm drip, 2 press pots - large and small, and an Ibrik. So I'm fairly well versed in all things coffee. That being said, this Chemex makes a pretty good cup of coffee but takes a little practice! My "1/2 pot" dimpled indicator measures holds 12ozs and that produces a standard size latte cup, just FYI. The pot is suppose to be full at the bottom of the wooden collar, but for mine that's 32ozs. If the 1/2 pot dimple is "suppose" to be half a pot, that dimple is off by 4ozs. No big deal, but it helps to measure yours and confirm yours is marked accordingly. Instructions say use 1 TBS coffee per 5oz water. Like using a press pot, length of time the water is in contact with the grounds effects final taste and takes a little practice for consistency. So use a timer. Just remember when it says "6-cup" that's 5oz cups, not standard SAE 8oz! I usually drink two triple shot espresso drinks every morning, then I'm done with caffeine for the day. But this makes a nice change of pace when I'm bored with espresso. BTW - extraction temperature is critical with correctly brewed coffee or tea. Industry standard for coffee is 205 degrees, so I also us a COSORI electric kettle and it's only off by 1/2 a degree at the 205 setting. AND it's bluetooth for monitoring! Would I recommend this?
