Is this thickness maintained over the entire blade length?** A: The blade is one solid piece of metal that is about a qt inch thick with a handle attached to it. It is that thick the entire length and width except for where it tapers down to become the actual blade. **Q: I just bought this but it doesn't fit in my pocket sharpener. How do you guys sharpen this tool?** A: I love mine, but had the same problem...I had an old SPYDERCO shapner, a base with two "V" shaped rods coming out of it and it works perfecly. Razor sharp when I'm done...this comes in a pouch and doesn't take up enough room in my pack to worry about. This sharpens anything, even fish hooks. I believe you can still buy these. If not, get a flat whet stone. That's the best help I can give you.
