## Description

An Unexpected Party is a fast, fun, action-based tabletop game for 2-4 players, set in the opening scenes of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - when the thirteen Dwarves arrive unannounced at Bag End, much to Bilbo's dismay! Mischief ensues as the dwarves cheerfully jest with Bilbo under the watchful eye of Gandalf. Blunt the knives, bend the forks; Smash the bottles and burn the corks; Chip the glasses and crack the plates; That's what Bilbo Baggins hates! An Unexpected Party is perfect for families. Spend an hour inside Bag End and host your own Unexpected Party! Step into the Dwarves shoes and earn points by performing lines of the song, "The Things Bilbo Hates." As you move around Bag End you will sing loudly, gather items and generally make a mess of the place. While Bilbo might be curious about the antics of his uninvited guests at first, be careful not to push the poor hobbit too far or you will be sitting in the Dining Hall with no dinner! The game ends either when all 15 lines of the song are completed, or with the momentous arrival of Thorin. The player with the most points - who did the best job arousing Bilbo's curiosity and shaking up his sheltered life - will win!

The instructions aren’t too tough to understand IMHO, but if you need help, there are a bunch of YouTube videos out there that will break it down for too. I play a lot of modern board games, and this is definitely under appreciated! Really like the art and the thematic elements (for example: as you rack up points, you stack the point tokens on top of one another like plates! The tokens are even designed to look like plates, too. Very clever!)
Review: Poor Directions - The game rules are hard to follow, we tried to play a couple of times, however the instructions are really not well written, so we were not able to play the game. If the makers would write better instructions it might be a fun game, otherwise it was a waste of money. Happy to write a new review if the makers want to write better instructions.

Love the theme, love the game! The instructions aren’t too tough to understand IMHO, but if you need help, there are a bunch of YouTube videos out there that will break it down for too. I play a lot of modern board games, and this is definitely under appreciated! Really like the art and the thematic elements (for example: as you rack up points, you stack the point tokens on top of one another like plates! The tokens are even designed to look like plates, too. Very clever!)

If the makers would write better instructions it might be a fun game, otherwise it was a waste of money. Happy to write a new review if the makers want to write better instructions.

Such a fun and unique gsme. The instructions are quite a lot and it definitely takes some time to get the hang of it. We had a lot of fun playing it with our 11 yr old.
