Review: Feature Rich RAX70 - Way more than I need - I could run a big office on this by itself - strong signal, great diagnostic software, high speed Ethernet, crazy fast wireless, Netgear Armor (Bitdefender Antivirus Subscription) is a nice - a really good bonus, but maybe a little pricey but works for every device on the network...VPN options, faster than you need now connectivity. Easy to setup really Techie options, if you know just enough to click the right box. but will punish a bad guess. (Did you know you can't do QOS with WAN Port Bonding?) Paired this with the Netgear CM1200 modem on Comcast Gig, bonded the WAN ports (overkill, yeah baby), bonded a pair of the Gig Ethernet to a Cisco switch for more gooey bandwidth love... going to add a Netgear mesh extender option just to roll in crazy bandwidth. I had a few glitches during activation (all worked but didn't show correct details in management web) - Support took care of it all, not the first week but it is smokin' now, thanks guys! This rocks - if you probably don't need tri-band on the RAX70, get the RAX80 which has some tiny differences, and maybe better for a single access point device wireless solution for most. Love this toy!!!
Review: Very happy - excellent router! - Really happy with the product. Setup was a breeze and everything is lighting fast. I signed up for FiOS and my old router could not make use of the FiOS gigabit speed. This new router is AMAZING. I am on WIRELESS and getting double what I was getting on the old router. Wireless is supposed to be slow! Or so I thought. This router has a lot of great features including a guest network, dynamic DNS, and automatic switching between two high-speed 5GHz networks. The router interface is extremely similar to my old Netgear but its just cleaner and more modern which makes it enjoyable to use. The Nighthawk app, eh- take it or leave it. It's a cool option to have but sort of unnecessary in my opinion. My only complaints are as follows. Documentation is lacking on what the "high-speed" port is on the back, and how to make use of it, and the option where you can combine two ports into one super-speed port. There isn't a description of this or really any explanation how to turn this on. There also isn't a good description of how the antenna work so you are left testing it out yourself or guessing if you can mount the unit to a wall without affecting its performance. If you are deciding between a bunch of routers, the RAX70 is the best router to get. If you have the money for a more expensive one, go for it, but I don't think you are getting too much more for your money, likewise, I wouldn't choose any of the lesser models as there are some important features exclusive to the RAX70. I wouldn't go with any other brand. Netgear has excellent products and I have always had Netgear routers and never had one fail on me. All of them I had to replace as I got other equipment but never due to the product itself failing in any capacity. Overall I'm impressed with the product. Setup was a breeze, and I couldn't be happier with my new Netgear Nighthawk!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can the ssid name and password be changed so i don't have to manually change my 48 smart home devices one by one?**
A: Yes you can keep the same SSID and password from your previous router setup. You should power cycle all those smart devices so they can reconnect to the new SSID router. Also you seem to have quite a few devices, you should consider a Netgear Access point such as WAX218 or WAC540 those can handle over 200+ wireless devices and can run on POE+

**Q: Is this a good upgrade to a nighthawk x4? I am paying for 1 gig service but i am getting only 550mbps over Wi-Fi.**
A: Frankly, I gave up on the nighthawk x4 and went to eero 6 pro. The night hawk just had to many problems.
The eero was easy to install. It has functioned very well and on 600MPS service I get about 620MPS. It does need a gigabit switch if you have more than one item plugged into your router.

**Q: Why does my connection keep reverting to 1.2Gig a second speed using my ax210 and ax211 adapters? I have to restart router each day for 2.4Gbps**
A: It might be your provider! Spectrum caps internet speeds if you don’t use their crappy devices that you are also paying a monthly fee to rent. I had a tech out here and he told me that unless you use Spectrum’s modem and router you wouldn’t get any much than around 1gig , he did say that there is a work around for getting what you’re paying for, but wouldn’t tell me. They just installed fiber optic all over my neighborhood, and I am absolutely sure that they will get my business as Spectrum is trying to monopolize on the fact that they are the only service except for DSL, which we tried and it was terrible. It’s all coming from a satellite anyway, so either they couldn’t afford better quality Satellites or they didn’t want too.

I’ve owned 3 different NETGEAR routers and modems and never had any issues with them, except for the fact they outlived the newest technology and they had to be replaced. Im a firm believer in owning my equipment as the stuff the provider rents to you is junk! I also have had several issues with Motorola modems and burning them up. I can’t just get NETGEAR at any local store and if they have it, it’s way overpriced.

Overall, I’ve been extremely happy with NETGEAR, however I wasn’t exactly happy with they did a firmware update on my Nighthawk X10 and I was robbed of one of my streams for some 60Ghz band that I don’t have a clue what it’s for or was suppose to be for. That was an expensive router and had plenty of ports, like 6 plus link aggregation.

**Q: Would this work with cox internet? i will be getting their top internet choice that’s $100 a month**
A: Yes, because it's just a router. You only worry about the cable modem for activation.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best yet!
*by O***R on November 19, 2020*

I guess you get what you pay for. Not a cheap router by any means, but this beast delivers. A new ISP recently introduced fiber to our area and I immediately ditched my 60Mbps(down) & 5Mbps(up) provider. Although I signed up for the 600Mbps plan (upgradable to 1Gbps), my older router just couldn’t handle it and I was only receiving about 230Mbps(down). Another problem I faced was the lack of range - simply moving to my bedroom about 30 feet away left me with almost no useable WiFi reception. I really wanted to take advantage of the plan I was subscribed to, so I started doing a little research about newer router offerings. I narrowed my search to the NETGEAR Nighthawk range and decided to take a gamble on this new model 6600. I’m no expert, but I must admit that I’m thrilled at my user experience thus far. I selected the “Smart Connect” option which simply allows my router to determine the best frequency to utilize. My connected devices would optimize their connection by automatically and seamlessly switching between 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The range of this router is also greatly superior to the one I retired. My residence is slightly over 1400 sq ft and this router has no problem penetrating walls and doors to provide good coverage. This coverage also extends well into my 300 sq ft garage, front lawn and backyard. The NETGEAR Nighthawk 6600 also provides a 30-day free trial of NETGEAR Armor and Bitdefender Security. I like it and have installed it on all my mobile devices. The annual plan costs $69.99 but mine came with a promo code (armor35), knocking $24.50 off the original cost and bringing the subscription to a more reasonable $45.49. I would highly recommend this router to anyone who would like to increase the coverage range and WiFi speed of their existing set-up. Almost a must-have for fiber connections.
