If we read and understand the first 200 pages, we don't *need* MG to tell us what the healing properties of any crystal are. This book and his methodology EMPOWERS us to not need a go-between or a guru to work with crystals and I will be forever grateful to Michael Gienger, may he rest in peace, for bringing this knowledge to us. I called this book a TEXTBOOK and here's why: For those of us not content with accepting other people's subjective experiences alone to learn about the potential healing properties of minerals, this book provides a way for each of us to realize any mineral's properties on our own, without a crystal prescriptive book or crystal guru.Regardless of its publication date (not updated since 1996?) CPCH remains the BEST and only book I know of from which to learn and teach Michael Gienger’s approach - working with the physical aspects of a crystal to determine its healing properties. If crystals can speak to one person, can't they speak to all of us who are sensitive to them? Then why do we need crystal prescriptive books? My friend pulled this book from behind the counter and flipped to the index in the back to look up “confidence”, and it pointed us toward some stones to seek out. That feature alone was enough to make me order this book as soon as I got home. I have other crystal books and they are all special to me, but this one is a must have for any crystal-enthusiast’s library. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Lots of interesting information, could have been better organized.... *by G***S on Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2017* A worthwhile addition to your crystal healing books. The first 100 pages are a combination of scientific information about crystal structures and then his extrapolation about the healing effects of crystal family shapes and mineral elements. This part of the book is unique. The last 200 pages are about individual stones/crystals and their healing properties. Which he outlines in terms of their spiritual, mental, emotional and physical effects. The pictures are well done. What would have improved the book....1. A match between the front index and the pages. (The front index is alphabetical the crystal/stonelistings are not....for instance Fossilized Wood, is listed under F in the index, but in the actual pages, it's between variscite and zircon....clear quartz is listed as rock crystal and is in between tree agate and amber.....) 2.
