## Description

" The Arabesque Table is full to the brim with dishes which are rooted in tradition and at the same time creatively (and deliciously!) transcend it. It is wonderful!" - Yotam Ottolenghi “Refreshing is …the best word to describe Ms. Kassis’s book… The Arabesque Table zooms out, examining both the history and the evolution of Arab dishes, suggesting another, richer approach to understanding food.” - Wall Street Journal Acclaimed author Reem Kassis returns with a one-of-a-kind collection of original contemporary recipes tracing the rich history of Arab cuisine. The Arabesque Table takes inspiration from the traditional food of the Arab world, weaving Reem Kassis's historic research and cultural knowledge with her contemporary interpretations of an ancient, remarkably diverse cuisine. In her personal, engaging voice, Reem bridges past and present to open up the world of Arabic cooking today, showcasing a mosaic of 130 delicious, accessible home recipes. Organized by primary ingredient, the recipes and vivid photographs bring the dishes to life while her narrative offers not only a sense of taste, but a sense of time and place as well. More than just a compilation of modern Arabic recipes, The Arabesque Table celebrates the evolution of Arab cuisine and the stories of cross-cultural connection it recounts, paying tribute to the history and journey that have led to this point. With the past on full display in this heavily researched and exciting book, you will find dishes from the Golden Age of Islam: like Narjissiya (a fava bean and egg hash) and Makmoora (a layered chicken, onion and pine nut pot pie), as well as contemporary and globally inspired interpretations: like Tahini Cheesecake and Caramelized Butternut Squash Fatteh with Za'atar, revealing a cuisine that is vibrant, nourishing, and exciting, but above all, reminding us of how powerful food is in defining the relationship between people, place and identity

Review: Absolutely Wonderful - More than a cookbook, this is a beautiful and inspiring book. The design is wonderful, and the content is even better. I especially love the little histories, inspirations, or variations that accompany each recipe. The original way the recipes are categorized makes it stand out from all other books. I bought one copy for myself and five so far as gifts, and every single person has loved it.
Review: Flavor profiles to love and make - This is a wonderful cookbook! So much so that I am wondering if I should go back an order Reems other cookbook. I have 5 ottelenghi books + Falastin, also Shuk and sababa all very good , but this may be my favorite. I have actually only made two recipes : pomegranate molasses and Aleppo roast chicken with spicy sahawiq sauce and the roasted eggplant with vegetables, olives and walnuts over tahini. Amazing! I have most of the book marked for recipes to try and will . desertcart unfortunately did not provide for a preview which caused a pause but was able to find additional info and a table of contents from other sources on line . I was concerned that the book would be heavily tilted toward grains and such but it was not. The book is very balanced and I am excited to also try some of the desserts and my hand at homemade halva / halaweh If you enjoy food from this part of the world this is a great addition to your cookbook collection Great writing style, clearly written recipes , I have become a fan of Ms. Kassis and look forward to her next book and will be buying her first soon as well

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A fusion of flavors hinting other regions, but still remaining authentic

I threw a dinner party taken almost exclusively from “The Arabesque Table” to the delight of the guests. I rarely leave a recipe unaltered, but sampled enough in Reem’s book to know that the combinations are wonderful. Only one recipe failed me out of 12 tried so far (the vegan kibbi) but was still enjoyed as leftovers at breakfast. I am glad I already cook Arab food, learned from my grandfather and his authentic spin—this cookbook is a perfect addition to those family recipes.
