It works fine without a lid. The cubes are flat on the top anyway. As for clear ice, - NO, Lids do not create clear ice. To get clear ice you need to freeze from the top down so a lid would actually hinder the making of clear ice. **Q: I’ve purchased two silicone molds. I'm getting the white ugly floaters from both, which rendered my drink completely undrinkable. Any residue left?** A: I have this problem too, but it's your water, not your molds. Easy fix, since the floaters are on the outside of the ice (at least they are for me). Give them a very quick rinse from the faucet and empty the glass. No more floaters. **Q: Does these make the ice taste like plastic/silicone?** A: Not at all! These extra-large spherical ice cubes dissolve very slowly to allow a cold drink without water dilution ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ No lid on square cubes tray, only on spheres *by G***R on 25 May 2026* Essentially you pay circa 14 quid for 4 excellent ice spheres, since the other tray, though large and very decent for whisky or similar, it has no lid, and i have a thing about exposed trays of water in the freezer. I don't know why I thought it comes with a lid, may be because the spheres do. So, i paid for 2 trays but using only one, for that reason only 4 stars.
