I have had this chair just over four months, and have had nothing but problems with the chair dropping. I have the chair at the highest point, and it will slowly start a descent down to the base. Obviously, there is an issue with the hyrdraulics. The chair will hold weight up to 350 lbs. I weigh considerably less than that. I have never had a chair do this, and this chair is not cheap! The hydraulics issue is a big deal, and we will see what the company recommends. I have read when you get a new hydraulic pump, it can be extremely difficult to remove the old one as it gets compressed from you sitting on and using the chair. Would I recommend this chair? I like the style and it is comfortable but who wants to sit in a chair that slowly drops down on you.addendum - 1 YR LATER. I REPLACED THE HYDRAULIC UNIT I WAS SENT OUT. THIS CHAIR IS VERY EXPENSIVE, AND IT IS CERTAINLY NOT WORTH IT. STILL HAVING HYDRAULIC ISSUES. I AM ABOUT READY TO TOSS THIS CHAIR AND GO TO OFFICE MAX/DEPOT, STAPLES, COSTCO AND GET AS GOOD A CHAIR FOR MUCH LESS MONEY.
