In the perfumery industry, it is interesting to note that Patchouli improves with age, and that the aged product is what is preferred over freshly harvested. History  In the 1960's and 1970's it became in great demand again in the US and Europe, especially due to the hippie movement. The clothing and fabrics imported from India were identified by the unique patchouli odor because it was used as a moth repellent, hence the association with that movement.
