You have to cut the black plastic out of the air filter box to be able to install the in cabin filter and then install the cover over the cutout. There are some videos on the internet showing this being done. It is a slow process doing the cutting. **Q: Some people said the filter broke when they bent it to install it. Why did that happen? Did they bend it the wrong way?** A: It is a slow process, push the top of the filter in, and then slowly feed it up, bending just enough to get it to go into the slot--this was an engineering failure by GM for a 'serviceable' replacement part. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fit perfectly *by J*** on November 4, 2023* The kit worked perfectly. I had to cut off the bottom of the original spot where the cabin air filter will be applied. A Dremel worked best for me. Then used a bristle brush to clean the condenser of all debris from the years of not having a cabin filter, then used compressed air to blow it out, also turned on there air to push out any other debris and just vacuumed out all the debris and dirt that came out. The filter goes in a few inches at a time at an angle the lid that came with the kit fit perfectly, and screwed right in place. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to install *by K***R on July 14, 2024* This cabin filter was installed in a 2004 Chevy 2500 Silverado. I used an old soldering iron and filed the tip to a knife point. Scord the location where the filter would go. I finished cutting with a utility knife and trimmed any excess material off for a good install and fit. I was surprised that the heater core did not have much debris. I cleaned the area with compressed air, installed the filter, and installed the panel with the screw provided. Job complete. It took me longer to reinstall the shroud which had 3 screws. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works good. Should have been done at the factory. *by D***A on May 1, 2022* Hardest part was getting the cover out of the way. Mine did not come with the screw but I had one that fit. Removed the cutout with a razor knife and scoring multiple times before going all the way through. The included filter has V's cut in the frame to make it easier to bend for installation.
